Combat jihad is one of the important teachings of Islam. Throughout Islamic history, some orientalists have used it to describe Islam as a religion of force and the sword, accusing it of resorting to violence to impose its beliefs. Within Islam itself, some, by misunderstanding the nature of combat jihad, have provided the necessary excuse for this accusation through their improper actions. Therefore, a detailed analysis of the nature of combative jihad from the perspective of the Holy Quran is of great importance and has shaped the purpose of the present study.

This research is theoretical and was conducted in two stages; the first stage of the research was conducted using the content analysis method; and the second stage was conducted using the analytical interpretation method with a comparative approach. The statistical population of the research is the Holy Quran, which was examined in its entirety, and for the validity and reliability of the research, the agreement coefficient between coders and multi-dimensionalization of sources were used.

The results of the data analysis contain the following points: - None of the verses related to combat jihad have been abrogated and each still has its own religious ruling with its own restrictions. - One cannot fight the infidels, polytheists, and the People of the Book simply because of their disbelief or polytheism, but fighting them is related to issues such as: enmity and aggression, sedition, oppression, breaking treaties, and sabotage.
