Peer Review Process

Article Submission and Review Process

A. Review Policy:

The review process for articles submitted to the "Comparative Interpretation Studies" journal, like other journals at the University of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Studies, employs a double-blind peer review method (the identity of the author and reviewer is unknown to each other). Each article is evaluated by at least two experts in the relevant subject area.

B. Reviewers' Responsibilities:

  • Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all article information.
  • Reviewers must maintain complete impartiality in evaluating the article.
  • Reviewers must provide their comments in writing, including a score for the article.
  • Reviewers must inform the editor if they find similar research.
  • Reviewers must inform the editor if they observe biased, subjective, racial, or other comments in the article that infringe on the rights of others.
  • Reviewers must refrain from evaluating an article if there is a conflict of interest between themselves and the authors.
  • Reviewers must assist the journal's editorial board in the qualitative assessment of articles.
  • Reviewers must complete the article evaluation within the specified time frame and inform the editor if they are unable to do so for any reason.
  • Article reviews must be conducted according to evaluation rules and with scientific evidence and justification.
  • Reviewers are obligated to conduct reviews according to the journal's policies and guidelines.

C. Authors' Responsibilities:

Authors are requested to pay attention to the following points when submitting their articles:

  • The author information file must include the article title, authors' names, institutional affiliations, institutional email addresses, phone numbers, and full home addresses.
  • The main article file must include the article title, abstract, keywords, main text, research results, and references, and must not contain any information about the authors' identities.
  • The conflict of interest form must be carefully completed and physically signed.
  • The authors' commitment form must be carefully completed and physically signed.

D. Article Evaluation Stages

Stage 1: Initial Screening

  1. Article submission through the journal's online system (articles submitted via email or methods other than the online system will not be considered).
  2. Initial evaluation of the article according to the journal's main criteria (topic, authors, article structure, etc.) by the editorial team (editor and editorial board members).
  3. Plagiarism and similarity check using the Samim Noor plagiarism detection system (only articles that meet the requirements in stage 2 will undergo a similarity check; otherwise, the article will be rejected or returned to the author for revision).

Note: This stage will take up to 10 days.

Stage 2: Peer Review

  1. Submission of the article to at least two experts in the article's subject area.
  2. Notification of the review result to the author (rejection/revision required).

Note: This stage will take a maximum of one to 40 days.

Stage 3: Revisions

  1. Follow-up on article revisions from authors.
  2. Submission of the revised article to a coordinating reviewer (acceptance/rejection).
  3. Notification of the coordinating reviewer's decision to the author (acceptance/rejection).

Note: This stage will take 3 weeks to one month.

Stage 4: Final Acceptance

  1. Final acceptance of the article.
  2. Sending the acceptance letter to the author.
  3. Placing the article in the section for articles accepted for publication.

Note: This stage will take a maximum of one week.

Stage 5: Publication and Indexing

  1. Determining the issue in which the article will be published (with the editorial board's approval).
  2. Sending the article to the copyeditor.
  3. Sending the copyedited article to the author for clarification and final approval before publication.
  4. Sending the final file approved by the author to the typesetter.
  5. Publication of the article on the journal's website.
  6. Sending an email notification of the article's publication to the authors of each issue's articles and other stakeholders.
  7. Submission of articles to national and international databases and indices.
